3 months ago I got out of an unhealthy relationship that had been going on for about 3 years. I'll leave out the details but long story short, since I've been out of the relationship I've been very motivated in all aspects of life, but have been preoccupied about what to do as far as my career goes. I'm kicking around the idea of getting my associate's degree (I live right next to a community college where I could get my 2-year diploma for free, basically) but I don't have much money saved up and would like to work somewhere at least part-time where I'm not miserable (I had a pretty stressful job for about a month before I moved out of where I was living with my ex, and that put a pretty bad taste in my mouth subconsciously I think). I've been applying for office administrative assistant/reception jobs because I have 2 years experience working at a medical office, but when it comes down to it I didn't learn too much from it so I hesitate when the jobs I'm applying for need someone who really knows what they're doing. I've gotten about 4 interviews so far, and even a job offer (which was for a place so disorganized/sketchy that I turned down the offer), but lately I've been reconsidering if that sort of work is for me. I'd only be doing it for the slightly higher pay than a retail job, since I hate talking on the phone. Initially I thought it would help my resume, but when it comes down to it, I don't want to be doing that kind of work if I can avoid it. I'm mostly looking for advice on things I can be doing to find a job somewhere between retail and reception, while I figure out what I want to do long-term. Any advice would be much appreciated.
