How to answer the question "why are you looking to leave your current position?"

Started at this company a bit over a year ago. There are internal rumors that are all but 100% confirmed true that they're about to lay off a good portion of the staff. Since I don't have seniority going for me, pretty sure I'll be on that list.

I've been saying that I want a job that challenges me and allows me to grow but I have a feeling that sounds weak considering I've been there for a relatively short amount of time.

On the other hand, I feel like dragging internal drama into an interview isn't very professional either. So I'm not sure what to say when interviewers press beyond my generic response and I end up kind of tripping over myself.

Would it be unprofessional to say that there are "rumors of restructure" and that I've already experienced that with my previous company and I don't really want to stick around for that? Should I just really push the growth and challenge pieces?
