Hi all! I am a recent college graduate who is struggling to get on her feet, so I had recently had taken up a part time job as a cashier in the large chain supermarket near my house. My parents were pretty happy that I had gotten a job to earn some money so that I can save up and buy a decent car and move out/attain my career goals (eventually). However, the hours are inconsistent (they ask me to come in on days when I am not scheduled, working very late etc.) and my parents are concerned that due to the VERY busy nature of the store and the fact that masks aren’t mandated that I may contract COVID, despite me being vaccinated (first dose). They have suggested to me that I take another job in a beauty supply/health store nearby (about 10-15 minutes by car), where this store is smaller and less hectic than the supermarket I currently work at. I feel conflicted as to what to do, because I have only had this job for 3 weeks now, and I don’t want to look like some slacker who can’t handle the job, my current job is okay-ish, but this new opportunity seems to be more appealing as the hours are reasonable (this store is open from 9am-9pm, as opposed to my current job which is open till midnight) and the store is much smaller than my current place of employment, which is easier on my OCD (it’s pretty bad). Some advice would be very much appreciated… thank you!
