I am majoring in finance/accounting and I want to work for the local county. I had an internship while in high school at the county and I enjoyed it very much. Unfortunately I haven’t kept up with the connections at made at the county and it’s been about two years since I spoke with them (maybe I should try engaging with them again?). I am thinking about applying to the same internship again this summer as a rising sophomore. Also I am planning to run for a student senator position at my college and for a position on my state’s education advisory board. I feel like these opportunities will be a great way to network and meet people. However I am not sure if this will be enough because I heard government jobs are impossible to get. What else can I do in college to increase my chances at getting a job through the county? Do I continue engaging in these activities to ensure I am able to network with people?
