Is it bad to apply for numerous internal job postings?

I work as a Frontline supervisor in a beverage plant. There are a lot of job opportunities within my company, and there are a few internal job postings that I have applied for. I'd like to make the switch to a more office-based role and have gotten to the final round of an interview but got passed over for a better fitting candidate. I've since applied to 3 more related postings (never more than one at a time) in the past few months hoping I have some luck. Unfortunately the roles I'm interested in are in a different function from my current one so they're more careful with the selections.

Is there any point when it really starts to damage my record to apply for internal jobs? My manager nagged me to not seem "desperate" to the recruiters as they can see how many I've applied for, but I really want a change from my current role. My manager seems supportive on the surface, but I'm wondering if they said that to keep me in my current role for longer. I'm not sure how else to get out without applying, but I don't want to screw myself over by being to overeager...
