I’m a 24 year old guy from Boston MA. I graduated high school in 2014, did two years of community college but both didn’t know what I wanted to do and just really don’t like/do good in school.
I worked as a manager at J Crew and an IT intern until 2016. I worked at Mercedes Benz as a service rep for another year. Then for a while I worked at different hospitals in emergency rooms and a EMT, and an operating room as a tech
Currently I’m an associate sales manager for Red Bull. Basically fancy way to say delivery driver and sales rep. Been there since April of last year.
I like it but there’s two main reasons I want to move on:
1) more money. I make $44,000 before taxes salary, then the possibility to earn up to $1,700 a month in commission. It’s good money but not nearly enough to live how I want to (ideally want to make $60-70k right now or soon to get a house and start a family)
2) sales. I really really hate being a salesperson. I’m generally an extrovert but I have the tendency to only like people who like me, and a lot of our managers and customers we do business with treat us awful, so I’m told to suck up to them which I don’t like to do
I really don’t know what direction to go. For a while I’ve wanted to get my Class A driving license to drive tractor trailers, but I don’t want to be away from home for weeks at a time. I like blue collar work but most of the entry level blue collar jobs don’t pay better then what I make, and job security is a concern. On the flip side I don’t know if there are any white collar jobs I even qualify for with no degree
I just feel stuck and want to be at a solid long term job that I don’t hate and that I can make decent money
TL;DR: want to move on from beverage sales but don’t know what I qualify for
