Depressed on degree and career path

I'm currently a junior that's majoring in Biology without a concentration or minor. I'm unsure if this the right path for me to be taking and this has been bugging me the past few months. While I always enjoyed learning science, I also had the assumption that it was a lucrative degree and had many opportunities since it's a STEM field. I've recently been told and read recently that this is not the case given the saturation of undergrad students with the degree and the low entry level salaries in comparison to other STEM degrees. At the same time, most positions are said to require at least a years worth a of experience for an ENTRY level position while the rest are divided up amongst Masters and PhD requirements. Is this really the case?

I'm unsure as what to do at all at this point. I don't thing it would be wise to switch my degree completely to a different STEM field since my Biology class' will be worthless. I'm primarily interested in doing laboratory work since I always enjoyed that, but is it high paying job? I also don't mind learning programming to make myself standout in the job market. Hypothetically, would a Computer Science Minor enable me to become a programmer and work in the tech industry if I were to change occupations completely? What about an IT minor?

I work as a STEM instructor and my boss has recommended that for my Biology degree I should do my concentration on Bioinformatics and a minor in Computer Science. According to him, I'll qualify for a significant amount of Computer Science jobs and I'll stand out a lot more with my Biology degree. Is this really the case?
