So, I work for a retail company and I'm a key holder. My store manager left a week ago, which came as a surprise to all of us, and my assistant store manager and I have been running the store ever since she's been gone. Even before the pandemic, though, I've been searching for other jobs and planned on leaving anyway. They have one other key holder besides me, but she's still on furlough and they haven't brought her back to work yet. I have been seeking new employment long before the pandemic happened. I've been presented with a good job opportunity, and they would like me to start in a week. If I leave, it will just be my assistant store manager as the only key holder working. I've already talked to him about this opportunity (he also knows that I've been looking even before the pandemic happened, and he himself doesn't care that I plan on leaving even though he'll be working literally all the time. If the company was sensible, they would bring back the other key holder after I leave. Since my store manager is gone now, I have to give notice to my regional manager, but I'm afraid of giving one weeks notice instead of two, especially since our store manager just left. I don't want to burn any bridges with the company, because I've always been a pretty good, loyal employee. With that being said, I would still prefer to give a one weeks notice instead of two because this new job really needs me to be able to start ASAP.
