I was just thinking about how to spin experiences on my resume (so far, I've done campus volunteering, library volunteering, working in a special collections library (currently doing that and it is so cool), and spam calling people from our university's research center...still not sure how to spin that last one, if it can be spun at all). But I was curious if I could consider volunteering within a daycare setting as customer service. I understand customer service means actually working with adult clients and customers, and I have worked extensively with parents regarding helping, protecting, and teaching their kids, all for the better part of a decade (it was within my church growing up and I've literally been doing that once a week since I was eleven. Am currently 21.) To expand on working with parents, I mean documenting allergies, emailing parents about kid's behaviors/assignments, checking the kids in, updating parents on any changes in the Sunday school curriculum.
This is really all bc I've been applying to a lot of jobs so something sticks by the time I graduate in May. I'm trying to see if I can land a Spring on campus internship (applied to 3), but if they pass me by, I want to know if I've got something that works still. (Other than that, I have only 1 internship which was 2 years ago. Couldn't do one this summer bc I had a prereq summer class).
Idk, I don't have the widest range of experiences, and if that can't be flipped into something meaningful, I guess I'll keep it off my resume for now. I was just wondering if anyone had any idea bc the idea just came to me, like, 10 minutes ago bc I never saw it as important enough to add since it's just that thing I've done for so long, it just faded into noise. If this is something I should ask my university's career center, I'll do that on Monday! Plus, it'd be cool if I could put down 10 years of customer service experience. If I can't, I'd still like to put down that I've been doing something for 10 years that's worth something.
(and if anyone knows how to spin a call center, that'd be cool too! but there's probably no way lol)
