Was I fired? HR was fairly vague

I have been at my current job for >1 year and I hate it, to put it mildly. The work is tedious, my boss is unpleasant, and I have begun having panic attacks on a weekly basis.

I recently started applying for other jobs and I have had a few interviews so far-- I did not want to leave without having another job yet.

However, last week someone from HR set up a meeting with me to discuss my performance. We both agreed that I was miserable and I was not doing my best work because of the mental toll the job has taken on me.

HR asked if I was searching for new jobs and offered services for people leaving our company. I'm still waiting for more information, so I don't know how much longer I will be expected at work.

I felt incredibly relieved after having the conversation and knowing that I would soon be out of there, but then I started to panic.

Was I essentially fired? Was this just them being polite and not firing me from my first full time job? I don't know what this means for me or how it will look to future employers. Is firing becoming less common? What do I make of this?
