Can I ask my potential employer to match my current pay rate?

I have been with my current job for 5 years now and currently getting paid $21.91. The job pays well for my standard of living (Bachelor degree, no debt, married, and no kids), but that is it. It’s a job that pays the bill. I have an interview with another job and this new job is more aligned with my interest, but starting pay is only $20. If this new job goes through, can I ask if the potential new employer will match my pay rate at my current job? If so, how should I go about asking without ruining my chances or leaving a bad impression?
