Got a new job but now do I put my two week notice?

I’ve been working for this company that is totally not what I thought it was, long story short I’ve been looking for a new job since I started there. Luckily, I was offered a new job this past Friday that starts in three weeks, I was planning on putting my two weeks notice this upcoming week but I heard that when you do that they just tell you to stop working that day, that way you’re not working with a bad attitude or whatever. The thing is, I can’t afford to not work these three weeks but I want to make sure I leave a not so bad impression on the company but I’m starting to think I can just quit the day before I start the new job and just forget about the two weeks notice.

What should I do?
