I had an interview for my dream job last Friday. I don't want to give too much identifying information, but the job is related to population health. They experienced a terrorist attack a few years ago, which I knew about but didn't mention directly. However, when I talked about my experience and education, I talked about a course I took in college on epidemic diseases and bioterrorism, the lessons we can learn about human responses to epidemic disease can be applied to how people respond to bioterrorism attacks and how population health responses can take these responses into account for mitigating the effects (I apologize for this awful sentence. I'm having some difficulty organizing my thoughts logically right now.).
In any case, was this insensitive? Does it make me seem like a suspicious person or like I have some kind of morbid curiosity? It was by no means the focus of the interview. I only mentioned it briefly, but one of the interviewers did mention the attack later in the interview with an odd look on his face. Should I be worried that this ruined my chance of getting this job?
