Hello everyone! I just need some advice on this matter as I am still fairly early in my career.
Basically, after applying to jobs for a year, I finally got my first real salary job. While it was not really in my field of study, since it was a state job, I have really good benefits and I figured I could use it as a stepping stone.
The issue is, before I accepted this job I applied to a very prestigious grad school program. My chances of getting into the program were SO low, that I accepted the job thinking I’d be there for a year because I genuinely did not think I would be accepted to the program as to be honest, my undergrad grades were subpar. However yesterday, I opened up my email and... I was accepted!
The program begins in the fall, so I have about four more months left before the program begins and I’ve been at this job for one month. Would it look really bad to leave this job after 5 months to go to grad school? I didn’t expect to have to leave the job but this is an opportunity I never expected to get.
Let me know!
